Per recent claims from a informant, Ghislaine Maxwell, now completing a two-decade sentence for trafficking offenses, is reportedly preparing a commutation application for consideration by the Trump administration.

Preferential Handling Alleged at Federal Prison

House Democrats on the judicial oversight panel revealed that a whistleblower provided evidence indicating the inmate is working on the commutation application. They also stated she has been receiving special treatment at the federal prison camp in Texas.

Congressman Jamie Raskin, the top Democrat on the House judiciary committee, stated in a news release that the facility's chief was assisting the convict with copying, printing, and sending documents to support her bid for clemency.

Specific details of the “commutation application” remain unknown, the congressman noted.

Claimed Perks and Special Accommodations

Raskin states that, according to the whistleblower, the prisoner has been receiving “customized” meals that are “personally delivered” to her living area, and the supervisor has individually organized private meetings for Maxwell and her guests.

These meetings allegedly include a designated private space for attendees and “an assortment of snacks and refreshments” for her guests.

Those visiting Maxwell were also reportedly permitted to bring computers, which Raskin described as an “unprecedented action” given the potential danger and chance of unsupervised contact.

In one alleged instance, when phone lines went down for other prisoners, Maxwell was given specific instructions about instructing her contacts to contact and how personnel would relay the call to her.

Supervisor Acting as Assistant

The source also allegedly told House Democrats that when the convict wanted to review and edit documents “quickly”, she reportedly employed the official as her “personal secretary and administrative assistant”.

The news release states that Maxwell’s correspondents would email documents directly to the warden, who would provide them to the inmate, who would review and edit them and return them to the official to digitize and send to the initial correspondent.

Extra Benefits Reported

Further perks reportedly provided to Maxwell include opportunities to interact with a trainee assistance dog – a perk typically prohibited – as well as private after-hours access to the facility's gym.

Maxwell’s attorney did not immediately respond to a request for comment regarding the whistleblower’s claims.

Through a spokesperson, the presidential office said that it “does not comment” on potential clemency requests.

“Per the President's remarks, pardoning Ghislaine Maxwell is not something he has thought about,” the representative added.

Recent Background

Over the weekend, reports surfaced that she told friends and family in emails from prison that she was “much happier” at the new prison than her previous prison.

In August, she was transferred from a low-security prison in Tallahassee, Florida to the minimum-security camp in Texas, where most inmates are serving time for financial and non-violent crimes.

The transfer, which authorities called as “unprecedented”, occurred just days after she was questioned about the Jeffrey Epstein investigation by the senior justice official, Todd Blanche, who also once acted as Donald Trump's personal lawyer.

This questioning came as the Trump administration was facing increasing scrutiny to release more documents related to the Epstein investigation and amid widespread conjecture around Trump's own personal ties to the disgraced financier and adjudicated criminal, who was found dead in a New York jail in 2019 while facing trial on sex-trafficking charges.

Lawmaker Reactions

In the news release, Raskin also announced that he had sent a letter to the President, requesting explanations about the whistleblower’s allegations, and called on the chief executive to deny the clemency appeal.

“It would be inappropriate to approve any type of pardon to this convicted and unrepentant sex offender,” the representative stated in the document. “Your Administration should not be providing her with personal amenities, with puppies to play with, with federal law enforcement officials attending to her requests, or with any preferential handling or facility benefit at all.”

Raskin requested that the official appear for a open legislative session to discuss the revelations and also posed three questions to Trump.

He inquired whether he had talked about a possible clemency for the convict with the official or others, whether he had directed Blanche or anyone else to provide Maxwell with the transfer or special conditions in prison, and whether she, her attorneys, family or representatives have made any commitments to Trump or his attorneys.

The representative requested for a response to the questions by 24 November.

Last month, the US supreme court declined to hear an petition from Maxwell on her sex-trafficking conviction.
